Ann Ramsay is the full time Instructional Resource Teacher (IRT) for Douglas . She has taught at Douglas as a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade teacher. Other teaching positions at Douglas include Academically Gifted teacher and the Magnet Coordinator. Ms. Ramsay has worked at Douglas since 1999. In addition to her role as IRT, Ms. Ramsay also serves as the Mentor Coordinator and Student Support Team chair for Douglas . Prior to teaching at Douglas she taught at Lynn Road and worked at the Developmental Evaluation Center at Duke University Hospital . Not only has she been a Doulgas teacher but also a Douglas parent. Both of her sons attended Douglas when in elementary school. Ms. Ramsay is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Peace College .

What is an IRT?
The IRT is to provide leadership to classroom teachers at the elementary school level in the implementation of curriculum and instructional techniques in support of the WCPSS Board Goal and to improve educational programs and services to students.
What are the responsibilities of the IRT?
The IRT connects the NC Elementary Standard Course of Study with Douglas and its staff by maintaining knowledge of current curriculum and instructional issues, attending meetings with the staff of WCPSS Academics staff, coordinate instructional resources to enhance students learning, and provide communication regarding instructional programs with parents, students, and staff.
In additon, the IRT supports the classroom teacher by providing coaching in curriculum implementation and best instructional practices, maintains on-going assistance in problem solving, planning, and curriculum and instructional innovations, models effective use of K-5 assessments, assists staff in analyzing and interpreting test data for instructional planning, assists in implementation of strategies developed for at risk students, models use of technology as an instructional tool, coordinates and assists in implementation of school improvement strategies
